Description

Please note: that Stan's Yellow Rim Tape by itself is not a tubeless conversion. Traditional (Non Stan's NoTubes ZTR) rims including those labeled "tubeless ready" still require a black rubber NoTubes Rim Strip to achieve a secure tubeless setup. Using only Yellow Rim Tape and NoTubes Tyre Sealant on a conventional rim can result in catastrophic "burping" issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well! For me the perfect level of stickiness. Not so much that I couldn't correct a mistake, but enough that it stayed on. I couldn't quite manage zero bubbles when first applied (might be me rather than the tape), but after a couple of rides with tubes fitted, had a near perfect flush finish. And so far so good in the few weeks since tubes came out and sealant went in.

This makes the product difficult to fit and fit to wheel rim is a concern to ensure pressure is maintained in the tyre

which size do you think I should get ?

I am using Mavic Ksyrium Equipe. Which size is best for this rim 21mm or 25mm?

Just measure the rim's inner width (ie, where the tape will sit). If it's wider than 25mm, go with the 25mm size. Otherwise, stick with the 21mm. The two sizes are offered to fit the different Stan's ZTR rim widths.

Is rim tape required if plan to use tubes rather than going tubeless?

Usually yes. the holes in the rim that allow the spoke nipples to be put in have sharpish edges, and the tubes have no strength of their own. You need rim tape there to stop the tube being forced down the hole. You don't need Stan's rim tape for that though if you're using tubes, normal cloth rim tape will do.

I am running swiss 4.2 wheels and using specialized captain tubels tyrs. Can I just use the yellow tape& no tubes sealent as I already tubeles valves?

You are going to need a rim strip (the standard Stans rimstrip) Your rims do not have the special hook that Stans rims have. I use the rim strip on DT Swiss EX400 rims with Maxxis and Bontrager tubless specific tyres. The Specialized tyres have a good bead so should work well.

What width tape should i buy

My kinesis wheels are 19c inner width.

Sure it will fit well, but the best you can do is cut a paper stripe of 21mm and test it on the rim.

I have some rims which have an internal width of 19mm. Can I use a 25mm tape for this?

HI, I found selecting the correct width tape a bit hit & miss because I believe it depends on the 'dip' you have in the centre section of the rim. I went with too narrow a tape at first as the tape was dropping down into the dip. It's important to get it down in the valley of the wheel rim to get a good seal around the spoke holes - unless you have fully sealed rims of course. The tape should not ride up the edge of the rims as this would disrupt the tyre's contact with the rim. Try the wider stuff first & see how it goes.
