Excellent
It was worth getting this model rather than the smaller straight version.
The only criticism is over the rubber bungees built on... they are a little bit useless but they come off easily. It took about 2 minutes to assemble and put on the bike.... you've really got to ratchet up that attachement though and putting it on a carbon seat post is a no no. I used it recently on the London to Paris ride as I was filming and it was an invaluable piece of kit. The image shows how the rack fitted with other pouches and bags.

Great.
great product but on a standard race bike, it could be lower (closer to the wheel ) even with the v type

compact. well made.
Quality product ideal for lightweight road cycle touring. Fits well to bike and is not intrusive. Goes ideally with Topeak rack. Do not fit to carbon seat stem - buy a cheap alloy one for £20.

Seat post mounted pannier rack
Great system and easy to fit. Just found that the bag didn't slide on particularly easily.

Rock Solid Rack
Easy to fit rack, which after 500miles of winter riding has not moved a millimetre.
Great back loading/unloading system. Great for the chap who wants his own cycling man bag.

OK for light weight use only
Positives: Easy to fit, lightweight.
Negatives: Side racks are very short so not useable with standard pannier bags, even with a moderate amount of weight the rack moves from side to side (even after tightening a lot).
Conclusion: Only for very light weight use. In the end, I don't use this anymore because I found a way to adapt a standard rack to my bike (previously not possible due to lack of mounts / screw holes on frame)

Minimalist panniers
Used these for an Alps trip and worked out very well. Yes - you will need to buy a pair of Rohan travel trousers because you won't have space for anything bulkier, but if you travel light, these are great. You will also need an aluminium seat post (not carbon). For a week's light touring these are great provided you're prepared to take the minimum essentials.

Works fine
Fitted this to my Secialized Allez for longer rides (with the Topeak RX Trunk Bag DXP with Side Panniers) and it worked fine.

Adaptable rack
I purchased this rack to my Dahon folder to enable me to use clip on panniers which are normally fitted to a carrier on a Santos urban bike. I had to slightly modify the seat post clamp and fit longer screws to fit the larger diameter Dahon seat post. (I expected this could be necessary) The result is rigid and firm. The rack is well designed and an attractive item of engineering

Solid rack for touring
I did a small amount of touring with this and it was perfect for week long tricks if you get the bigger bag to go with it. It's a little tricky to fix but once on its solid as a rock and you don't feel it at all behind you.

Well made and light but lacking in features
Needs stabilizing for sideways movement. Had to adapt frame to prevent movement when carrying panniers. Bracing struts need to be included for it to do the job it is designed for

Small but Compact
When it arrived it looked much smaller than I had expected. But combined with the bag and pannier set was adequate for the 4 day ride I had bought it for.
Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Too small
I bought this and the accompanying pannier on the basis it is for road bikes, however it is too small to be of any use, you really can't fit much in it at all - not even a pair of shoes. Only choose this if you need to carry a few bare necessities.

Great quality
Really works well and looks great on the bike. Recommended

Very sturdy rack
Purchased to attach to a road bike for a tour down through France to Alpe D'Huez. When combined with a Trunk bag with side panniers provided a very secure storage system.

More than it seems
I bought the rack to take my much-travelled Altura clip-on panniers. They fit fine but there is a 12 kg weight limit on the rack. The details don't make clear if this is 12 kg suspended at the outer end or just overall. I'll go for overall. I have increased its load capacity by attaching a thin cord loop around the outer end and another around the saddle rails and joining them them with a bottle-screw to micro-adjust the tension. Depending on the angle the cord makes with the rack, it's possible to increase the payload by, for example, ½ kg at 25 degrees - more if the angle is greater. This adds stability and confidence(!).
The rack is extremely well made.

Adds another dimension to my road bike
The slim fit of this rack enhances the look of my road bike. It means I can now carry a newspaper or other small items home after a spin.

don't overload or you will come a cropper!
Once this rack is fitted to the seat post it is so easy to use -the Topeak range of backs slide off and on a treat. Ideal for loads of up to 9kg. I used mine loads for day runs overnight and weekend hops and for carrying kit for my house calls as a GP. great.
BUT - beware! on longer trips the temptation is to overload - I did a number of 500 mile trips with my luggage on board and on the last one the securing pin sheared as I was carrying 12kg - I know, I know, I should not have been so stupid! - but it kinda ruined my day. I will now be buying a more substantial piece of kit for the next long haul.

Does just what it is supposed to do.
Very easy to fit, looks good and does just what it is supposed to do.
Perfect for a bike without pannier eyelets also acts as a rear mudguard.

Good solid rack
Good solid rack that is reasonably easy to set up.
The quick release is the slowest in history and should not be called a QR eg quick release. It uses 2 allen key bolts and IMO that is far from quick release, if I had of known about this I probably would not have bought the product and gone with the heavier steel version.
17 January 2013
solid and holds onto the bike well, just a pity there isnt more room to the carrier, great for a days ride or possibly longer

Just the job
I needed a pannier rack for my daily commute to work, but was thwarted by the fact that my bike (Ridgeback Genesis Day 02) doesn't have any holes for mounting a rack. Then someone recommended I get one of these. I feel like a proper commuter now.
03 October 2012
Lightweight, Easy fit, sturdy
Used it for first time on a weekend ride 125 miles with no problem. Stayed in place for whole trip, no movement, High position on seat post means it clears your leg but with pannier set on remember centre of gravity higher when pushing bike and getting on / off

Great if you have a road bike with no way to mount racks. Doesn't take a heap of weight, but works well and looks good. Easy to fit, easy to remove, seems durable after a few months of use. If your bike can take proper pannier racks, then I'd avoid this product - otherwise it's a decent alternative.

Works well
Got this for my road bike for short trips getting to and from Hotels and Stations etc. Felt comfortable with about 11Kg in 2 panniers but wouldn't want to ride all day with that load as the heavier bags tended to sit closer to the rear wheel. With the lighter (recommended) load it would be fine. As it is so easy to fit you can easily take it off the bike for long rides. Fitted my Altura Klickfit panniers just fine. Took the precaution of replacing my carbon seat post with an Alloy one.

This bike rack is great - it does what's needed of it. Easy to fit, and only slips around a little bit when the bike is laid on its side with the rack and panniers on. Would recommend.

Topeak RX rack w/sides
I just got this small, light pannier rack today and so far my first impressions are good!! Although I need more time to thoroughly test it out.
Its very lightweight and was easy to attached to my seat post.
I got it for my road bike and so that i could do some light touring on it, such as a long weekend away.I didn t have eyelets on my road bike like my older hybrid so hopefully this will do the job.
(II ve got the compatible RX Trunk DXP with side panniers on order too)
Let you know more in time.

Lightwieght and easy to fit
Works well on a road bike to give a bit of carry capacity. Does not move or slip.
18 October 2011
Good product
I toured using this rack (and the trunk bag with panniers) and I didn't have a single problem with it. As long as you tighten it as tight as possible around the seat tube it will not shift at all. It is very easy to fit as well.

Limited use
I bought this thinking it would be quick release and still allow me to use my own pannier.
It isn't quick release as you need to unscrew the two allen bolts each time. Sounds easy, but when you consider it takes you 5 minutes to fiddle about with the bracket and get the rack on in the first place, taking it off is less appealing.
However, that's not the worse thing about it. The side frames are so small they don't prevent any pannier of normal proportions from swinging into the rear wheel.
If all you're looking for is a permenantly mounted rack that carries very small bags or items on the top then go for it. Otherwise it's not much use.
