Good Value Basics
Well what can you say about basics such as gear casing!
One thing I would note is that you may have to consider a actual casing cutting tool as these have a steel inner sleave and so a bit difficult to cut with the plyers you'd find in your tool box.
Good quality and cheaper than what the local bike shop was going to charge me.

I got this product when the outer cable was split and freyed on my bike. Now I've replaced it with this and it's as good as new. You get plenty of cable casing too, so now I have lots spare for if I ever need it again. Thanks Wiggle!

This stuff is cheap and cheerful, but does the job perfectly. I bought some to re-do the gear outers on my 'old and faithful' commuter bike without wanting to break the bank.
It was the cheapest on the net, and there's plenty of cable too (2m) - enough to do a couple of bikes, and it doesn't matter if you make a mistake with the cutting as you've got plenty to have another go with!
I've had no problems with my gears or shifting, and as mentioned above I've still got enough left to do another bike (maybe two or even three!).

change your cables and casings regularly.
It's cheap, easy, and your bike will love you for it.

Cheap as chips but works well enough. One improvement would be to package the casing so it stays round rather than its current shape, which needs to be straightened out a bit.

Don't waste your money. Outer plastic pealed back from the inner metal wire support the within a few gear changes forcing the inner wire structure into the mechanism. Really poor quality.

it's outer gear casing
As per the summary this is outer gear casing, enough to do the job with a little left over. You do need proper housing cutters for this product, sharp side cutters just won't do it for you fellow bodgers out there.

Does the job at a good price......................

Tough as you like and good value
Can't fault this cable housing - you need proper cable cutters to get through it and it really does feel like a quality product - plenty long enough to reach the back of the bike

Decent price for the amount you get. Not much you can say about it, it does the job it's intended for.

Great value outer
Great value outer. No problem with fitting. The only slight problem is due to the way it is packaged. You end up with slight bends in it from where it has been folded rather than coiled. The can be straightened out, but just make measuring up a little more fiddly.

Good and cheap
Works well for the price, can be hard to cut though.

While this product works okay generally it does not cope with tight radius bends required on my MTB. Ended up throwing in the bin and getting a decent quality product - at a cost.

Does the job just fine at a decent price..........

Does the job.
No complaints whatsoever, and I think you get ferrules too, but don't quote me.

Excelent great feature
Excelent , great feature, shipping very fast anb good paked

Perfectly fine for the job
This is great outer casing and seems to be doing the job very well, but my gripe is with Wiggle not selling any ferrules for it in sensible numbers (I don't need 100, and the smaller packs only come in 5mm, for brake cables (these need 4mm ferrules)

Never let me down
I always use this product good quality & value. When changing inner cables you may as well change the outer casing.

what a price, what a product why would I spend lots on other similar items, it works

A false economy
After fitting this new outer cable from the front shifter and on the curve to the rear mech, nothing I could do would make the shifting clean. I tried everything: cable was carefully cut to length for minimum resistance, inner cable was fully greased, cassette removed/cleaned/replaced, mech was cleaned and lubed and the top jockey wheel moved as close as possible to the cassette, shifters lubed, chain changed and length carefully adjusted, no apparent misalignment of hanger... you name it, nothing made any difference.
So I took the outer off and refitted with new lengths of the same product, just to make sure - no change: sloppy shifting.
Eventually I compared my other bikes (each with Shimano or Campag outers) on how much the cable and rear mech moved for each click of the shifter - all showed a lot more movement. The bike fitted with Infil outer struggled to move the mech in comparison. It was clear that there was far too much "squidge" in these outers for accurate shifting.
So I bought some Shimano outers, and instantly it transformed the shifting to how it should be - snappy and precise.
Conclusion - don't waste your time on these like I did - they really are a false economy,

Works well so far
No problems so far. Works well and plenty of cable ends in the pack to use on many workshop jobs.

Does what it says on the tin.
Long enough to run to the rear dérailleur on my Mountain bike, that has a continuous run. Would need to be another 50cm longer to do the front as well, so I had to buy two sets, not that I can complain at that price.

does what its suppose to do
good value, appears to work as well as more expencive ones, only time will tell

This gear casing is excellent value for money
This Transfil Outer Gear Casing is excellent value for money, and was very easy to cut to length and fit . All that was needed extra were some plastic ends to finish off the job, which I bought locally. The casing had to be cut using a Power Craft combi tool, which I already had, but I imagine a hacksaw would work just as well. Finally the ends had to be opened up again with a bradawl as the disc cutting attachment caused the Teflon inner lining to melt.

Well its Outer Gear Cable
Outer cable is generally our cable. Tranfil products are always durable and of a high quality, i see no reason that this would be different. Shift is nice as slick with minimal friction. If it lasts as well as their brake outer on my Brompton i'll be well pleased.

cheap gear cables that work and last well what a bargain , at 2 meters long they are versatile and really good quality
14 February 2012
Quality ok for the price
It's not the most flexible or gliding casing you'll find, but for this price it's certainly a bargain.
Grease properly the cables before inserting them in the housing, and they will work well for a very long time.
I'm changing my cables no more than once a year and I have no problem with these casings at all.
26 January 2012
Cheap and pre stretched cable, so chances are you wont be messing around to tightness so much !
01 November 2011
used this with a new transfil inner good fit good kit
22 October 2011
Does the job
Arrived quickly, cuts to length well, feels OK, does the job

I am fitting new flat bar shifters and would like to know if this comes with the cap ends which fit into the shifters and also st the opposite end when the cable becomes exposed as it runs along the frame. If not can you recommend some?
