Description

The Technique

The Technique brings Verenti road performance foundations into a new lower price point. The design remit was clear, build a fantastic value road bike that will lead our customers into a superb cycling experience. The bike is aimed at the first time road bike rider who wants a sporty ride, reliable performance and unbeatable value. The Technique is supported at the front end with Full Carbon forks with a tapered steerer. The bladed legs absorb the vibration off the road giving that little more comfort and the carbon steerer gives you that little extra strength at the front end but still keeping the weight down.

Shimano Tiagra Drivetrain

The Shimano Tiagra groupset gets a revamp for 2016 in looks, design and technology. Following on from it's older brothers, it offers clean looks, great shifting and excellent performance. The chainset features the 4-arm spider bringing it inline with 105, Ultegra and Dura Ace. Using a 50/34 compact gearing, you can tackle even the steepest climbs with confidence. 10 speed Tiagra STi levers offer improved ergonomics, smoother shifter and lever movement, under-tape cable routing and a more comfortable brake hood. Shifting is precise and consistent, right the way through the 10 speed drivetrain. Dual pivot brake calipers provide excellent braking power, with angle adjustable pads to ensure perfect pad alignment. A quick release lever aids installation and removal of wheels, for transportation or puncture repairs.

Shimano RS010 Wheelset

Keeping the Technique rolling is a set of Shimano RS010 wheelset, with their double walled alloy rims and forged alloy serviceable hubs these should never slow you down. To give you that little extra traction these wheels are then wrapped in a pair of Continental Ultra Sport tyres in a 28mm width.

Cosine Finishing Kit

Finishing the Technique off is a collection of parts from Cosine. Using a Alloy 75mm reach bar,a 3D forged stem, Single bolt alloy 27.2mm seatpost and a Cosine road specific saddle. A great, light-weight finishing kit to top the Technique off.

Size Guide

Sizing Information

The size chart below will get you on the right size bike. Experienced riders may also wish to refer to the geometry chart for more detail.

Getting the Right Fit

At Wiggle we measure each of our bikes to build accurate size charts for our customers. Our qualified team of mechanics then individually check each order, against measurements supplied by you, to ensure the size chosen is correct. Another reason you can have complete confidence when buying a bike from Wiggle!

If you are on the change over between sizes both options will fit. Racers and experienced riders would usually select a smaller size as this offers quicker handing. A larger bike offers more stability and is more suited to new and intermediate riders.

Magazine Reviews

Review from road.cc

erenti's marketing aims the Technique range at the beginner, someone who's looking for their first serious road bike. What they are offering is a very stable, easy to ride yet exciting bike.

Out on the road it is very easy to ride tracking well and offering no surprises or twitchiness, exactly how it should be for a novice rider. But don't go thinking it's boring to ride if you've got a bit more experience in the saddle.

Where the Technique really excels is tapping the miles out in the lanes at a more relaxed pace and if you can get on with the softly padded Cosine saddle then you'll be comfortable for hours, enjoying the scenery and sunshine.

Many riders, especially new ones tend to buy from a spec sheet, and that hasn't been missed by Wiggle. Whereas a lot of manufacturers will upgrade the rear mech a groupset higher while sacrificing the chainset and brakes for perceived value Wiggle have gone straight in with a full groupset – bosh!

In conclusion...

The Verenti offers everything that a new rider could possibly need and keeps offering more too. The bike responds to what you put in so as you become more confident and start to ride harder and faster the Verenti just takes it all in its stride replying with that same stable, surefooted ride.

There are bikes with moe exciting ride characteristics but the Technique still offers plenty of responsiveness and fun, and one thing is for sure: the Verenti Technique Tiagra is an absolute performance bargain.

Excellent value for money first road bike, audax machine or year-round commuter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mansilla from A few niggles, but at this price? Brilliant. Had mine since November, and I've put 500 miles on it now (mid March). Bought as a winter bike. Its always easier to think of the cons, so I'll put those first. The paint is thin (although being a gloss finish, its easy to clean!) - rubbed through to primer in a couple of places already. I couldn't get the seat to an angle I liked, so ended up replacing the post for one with screw adjusters. Some of the finishing kit is rusting already, but then I have been using it in winter on salty roads. Neither a pro or a con, but worthy of comment - this bike takes mudguards. I initially bought some 35mm ones, which just cleared the tyres. They would have been OK for urban riding, but a lot of my riding is in country lanes, and they just clogged up with mud. I now have 42mm ones, but had to make a few adaptations / cuts to get them to fit. Worth considering if you want to guard up. Pros are simple. I got a 60cm framed bike with full tiagra for under £500. OK, so some of the finishing kit is a bit mediocre, but that's more than offset by the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Globulin777 from Good Bike Verenti Technique Tiagra : Longest ride on it is 207 Kms so far. Owned for a few weeks now. Great all rounder and competent and sure footed descending. Gears nice and crisp. Saddle doesn't suit me so swapped out for my Fizik Aliante. 28 tyres WILL NOT allow full mudguards ( there's no way 28's won't rub on the tyres no matter what others here might say) so swapped for 25's which is a pity as I was looking forward to a plusher ride. The frame transmits a bit more road buzz than usual but easily rectified by either gel strips or extra bar tape for my old hands and arms. Not a light bike but in no way inordinately heavy either, weight is within a perfectly acceptable range. I fitted full mudguards fitted which are great. A few small niggles quickly sorted by Wiggle customer service which is second to none. Brake capilers work well but brake pads are only acceptable but better swapped out for something else. Standard Shimano wheels which are pretty robust and dependable and a great value addition to the bike. Metallic paint scheme is fantastic. Great value bike for the money and I just can't imagine a better offering at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PRT68 from Superb value Been looking for a winter bike for a while, and stumbled across this one. As an ex demo, it was priced at the value of the groupset alone!! I expected a few scuffs and scratches, but was pleasantly surprised to have it promptly arrive in very good condition. Just a few cable rub marks, quickly sorted with T cut and protection tape. Fitted the bars and some pedals with the provided tools, and was riding within 20 minutes. It rides exceptionally well, everything working as It should, requiring no adjustments. I chose this model because of the ability to fit full mudguards, but the 28mm tyres leave little clearance!! Put some 23mm on and they now fit. Just a very small gripe, but does need bearing in mind. Seems a shame to now ride such a good quality machine in bad weather, but at the price I don't feel guilty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sharpthefifth from Love it. This bike made commuting fun. It's fast, nimble, and light. A great war horse for the city. My only words of caution would be to make sure you don't get the screws too tight, but that's mostly just common sense. Other than that, it's cheaper than the bus and gives you a daily dose of exercise and adventure. I'd say go for it.

Matching Tiagra GREY Caliper Colour & Climbing Cassette

Does the 2016 Bike come with GREY Tiagra calipers like the Chainset and is there a 32 climbing cassette ? Is the rearmech capable of accepting a 32 cassette ?
Asked by: tenzing
The bike comes fitted with the Silver Tiagra calipers as standard from the factory, and a short cage rear derailleur which would only be able to handle a maximum cassette size of 28T, so a 32T model wouldn't be directly compatible. You'd need to order these parts additionally to the bike to complete your required setup.

Can you offer a different cassette?

I like this bike and specs. However I'm disappointed in the 12-25 range on the cassette. Is it possible to order this bike with a different range on the cassette. One that has an eleven tooth small ring. Preferably 11-28?
