Size Guide

Sizing Information

The size chart below will get you on the right size bike. Experienced riders may also wish to refer to the geometry chart for more detail.

Getting the Right Fit

At Wiggle we measure each of our bikes to build accurate size charts for our customers. Our qualified team of mechanics then individually check each order, against measurements supplied by you, to ensure the size chosen is correct. Another reason you can have complete confidence when buying a bike from Wiggle!

If you are on the change over between sizes both options will fit. Racers and experienced riders would usually select a smaller size as this offers quicker handing. A larger bike offers more stability and is more suited to new and intermediate riders.

Customer Reviews

Vitus Energie CR Cyclocross Bike (Rival - 2020) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Gboy98 from Great Value but Not Perfect Just finished racing the cyclocross season on this and I was very impressed. To get a full carbon frame with Sram Rival for £1500 is excellent value. The frame itself is very responsive to power output, with the chunky fork never wavering under hard cornering or tracking across cambers. The finishing kit on it is perfectly acceptable and does the job well, I particularly like the soft bar tape. However, at 46cm on an XL, I found the handlebar slightly too wide for racing and will be swapping it to a 44 or 42 next season. I also found the head tube to be too tall, even with the stem slammed I'd like a slightly lower position on the front end. Somewhat disappointingly for a cx race bike, the mud clearance on the back end is minimal, reminding you that this is just a stock frame and not one with a huge amount of discipline specific design that went into it. This lack of clearance also means that you are limited as to what size gravel tyre you can run in the off season (35mm max), at odds with the fork (probably 45mm max). There is a large shelf behind the bb for mud to collect on. This then gets pushed behind the chainring, causing the chain to come off. This has caused me much frustration during races but has been solved with a chain guide. The wheels are well specced with 28 spokes front and rear and are perfect for training on, coming tubeless ready. However, mine had a tiny crack in the rim. Wiggle sorted this and gave me a free pair of Prime Attaquers, an excellent set of race wheels. The Vee tyres are nothing special but work ok as long as it's not too slick out, even if they do feel a little wooden. Whilst it sounds like there are a lot of negatives, in truth I am being picky. When racing, it felt excellent, fast stiff, comfortable and I didn't have to think about it at all. In short, I would absolutely recommend this bike but would suggest budgeting for new tyres and a chain guide. I would love it if next year, Vitus gave their carbon race frames the same clearance as the alloy Energie's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by keepitpinned from Does the Job spot on Hit the cyclocross racing straight away when the bike arrived and it did not disappoint. A couple of months in and my only gripe is the bearings in the headset and bottom bracket could not handle the abuse of the racing and washing but hey ho, I will replace with better ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonba from Great Value - Great Ride Admittedly only done a session on the rollers and a few hours outdoors so can't comment on long term. The bike is well thought out. Components pretty well spread across the price point. No hidden cost savers that will need to be replaced. The only noticeable thing was that the back end was heavy. I guess because of the massive cassette which feels a little wide range for racing but is good for general riding. Build is good, no rattles, creaks or tweeking needed. Nice bag of extras too. Bits included for front mech, basic tools, frame patches, chainstay protector and even a little bit of touch up paint. The colour is nice. I don't think the photos do it justice. More golden than orange with a nice pearlescent effect which changes depending on light. Ride is excellent. Compared to my all out race bike it feels a little more relaxed and confidence inspiring. Stiff and sturdy it is pretty close to the weight on the vitus site. It would be easy to trim back with some lighter finishing kit. The supplied tyres have come off. Ok for gravel riding or dry conditions they are pretty much a file tread. Perhaps the only criticism so far is the mud clearance. Its not amazing. I don't think it will be a problem with 33mm tyres except on the worst claggy courses. You would easily get 35mm in there, wider for dry weather but you'll not be getting larger gravel tyres on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SABGla from Great cross/gravel bike I bought one of these in the autumn so that i could use it as a winter commuting and training bike. Plus i wanted to get into some gravel riding. Near to Glasgow we have a ton of great off road that i wanted to get on to. The bike looks great; the metallic orange and black is cool. High quality finish. My first time on SRAM 1x and i really like it for the simplicity. Works well off road and on. Weight is not bad for the price. My medium is ~8.6kg with a new saddle and seat post but no pedals. The only issue i had was that the frame is big. I ordered a medium which i should have been on the large side of (I'm 176cm). The top tube is pretty high and did cause me some worries about squashing my crown jewels if i came off i a hurry. Hasnt happened yet though :-) I did try a small but that was way to small for me. According to Strava I've done 650km on it so far. Long rides (>100km) on road and off have been fine. Bike is comfortable (had a bike fit to get it just right) and easy to ride. Would definitely recommend.

Q & A

Tyre clearance and weight

Would 40C tires fit in this bike and what is the maximum tyre clearance? And what is the weight of the bike?
Asked by: moukari
I can confirm that this can accept up to a 38c tyre (forks can handle 42c) The weight is finish dependent and varies based on size.

Can you recommend any mudguards for this bike?

Asked by: CMckz
Either of the mudguards below will work, you'd need to for the 35 mm options.
