An essential item for training smartly
Not a lot can be said about this small but very expensive item. If you’re training on a smart trainer that uses the Ant+ system as means of communication then you need this in your life, especially if you are using an IOS device.
Be aware though, the item will only work with Apple devices that are third generation and above. Not sure if this is actually highlighted within the sales description. I’m currently using one with a fourth generation iPad, lightening adaptor and a BKOOL pro trainer and it works flawlessly.
My only criticism is the cost; they know you need it and charge accordingly.

Expensive but useful
The bottom line is if you have to have this to connect to your iPhone/iPad it is fantastic but very expensive. I have a Tacx Vortex Smart and TrainerRoad aren't exactly making any effort to use the new Bluetooth Ant+ FE-C control that Tacx brought out end of last year. When they and others do this is redundant but until then if you want to use a decent app like TrainerRoad you have no choice but the training programs make it worth it.
It works well although you do seem to need the Wahoo app to make it work which for some weird reason was hard to find on the App store. Once don't its brilliant and having the iPad attached on the Tacx mount with your workout allows you to do quite a lot with it.
The packaging is ridiculous with this tiny dongle and a narrow paper booklet in a box you could have place left over from a larger cycling computer. It doesn't matter that much as a customer but from Wahoo's perspective it seems pretty stupid as they pay more to ship it. Apple for example would have this fitting in a very small box.

Bought this to connect by Garmin Edge 1000 (and sensors) to an iPad to use the interactive 'Sufferfest' training videos. A breeze to set-up out of the box and connects easily to the sensors. I had to buy a separate attachment to connect this to my iPad as Wahoo don't make a version to connect to the newer style Apple plugs. Would be nice if they sorted that!

Not cheap, but simple and effectve
Purchased to work with an iPad app, allowing me to connect up a stages power meter and garmin HR monitor and speed sensor. I used it with an apple lightening adapter and it is simply a case of plug in and go, it's as easy as that.
I just wish it was a tad cheaper, but it does what it says.

Works great if a little expensive
I purchased this so I could use my Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor with TrainerRoad on the Turbo Trainer with the TrainerRoad iPad software.
What can I say, it works a treat, I also had to purchase lightning adapter to convert the end from the old style connector this unit uses, a word of advice, buy an official apple
lightning adapter, I tried 2 cheap after market adapters and neither worked, only the Apple one worked.
Once all plugged in the Garmin Ant+ sensor was picked up and everything worked perfectly.
I think its expensive for what it is, but it does work.

It makes your iPhone ant+ connective
This works with an adaptor on a iPhone 5 and 5s. Garmin speed and cadence sensors are now attached to my iPhone. Its perfect for a set up on a turbo trainer but I think the wahoo Key would fall out of the phone if its was attached to my road or MTB.

Got this to use with my Garmin sensors with my iPhone and it works perfectly, very quick with no lag in finding the devices. If you have an iPhone with lightening connector this can be used with an Apple adaptor (£20 ouch!). The only quibble I have is it seems quite expensive.

I needed and ANT+ compatible device to use with my iPhone. This does the job brilliantly.

Wahoo Key for iPhone (upto 4S model, not iPhone 5)
A 30pin iPhone ANT+ key that works with a wide variety of iPhone apps.
Purchased to work with the popular cycle / running related apps and to communicate with my ANT+ cycle/running kit and HR strap (all Garmin based). and also my SRAM/Quarq crank based powermeter.
All worked fine with no problems, excpet the Garmin Fit and Garmin Connect apps, which require the specific Garmin 30pin key ! Garmin key only works with Garmin apps, nothing else.
Pitty that you need both keys, which I now have !
Anyway, works and that is all that matters.

This product works really well. I previously used the wahoo program on my bike so this is a great addition for use off the bike in the gym.

Does the job
Ok I have to say this item does the job. This ant+ key works with every piece of software that iv'e tried. Unlike some ant+ keys that only work with there own software. This seems to work with everything. There are downsides. The slot up plug the ant+ dongle in is also the charging slot. so no backup power can be used while the ant+ is plugged in so if your cycling for 4 to 5 hours and your phones nearly dead as your using gps and the ant+ you cant charge it unless you unplug the ant+. workout over? other than that its good.

Perfect match for ant+ and iOS
Expensive but works flawlessly with my ipad2. I use it to download my Garmin 910xt , much easier than booting up the PC and great when travelling.

Downloads from Garmin 910xt to iPad
I bought this to download my workouts from my Garmin 910xt to Garmin Connect and Strava via my iPad. Using the Wahoo app, it is quick and simple to do.
A bit on the expensive side, but saves me a lot of bother.

Great piece of kit.
While I think this is expensive I gave it five stars because its transformed my workouts on the turbo trainer (Elite Qubo Digital), the trainer is awesome but the digital display isn't backlit. If it was it would eat batteries, but it is difficult to read in certain lights and with sweat running into your eyes! Now I use my Ipad as the controller, it connects instantly to my trainer and heart rate monitor, with addition of the free app for the Qubo it makes a normally tedious workout far more enjoyable, ( still prefer the road though ).

Not used much yet but seems to connect ok and works with selected apps. Doesn't seem to work that well with Concept 2 PM4 monitor - could be me though.

Works with garmin
I have used this small device to download a garmin 310xt into my ipad and upload to connect from there, using the wahoo free app.
iPhone sized app with limited analysis features.
No need to take a laptop away with you.
Beware it is very small and easy to loose, apparently there is a key ring holder for it I discovered afterwards, at the price I believe
it should be included.

Excellent but very expensive
You need one of these to be able to use an iPhone or iPad with a compatible ANT+ wireless trainer but it comes at a steep price probably because not much competition. I recommend it because as far as I can see there is nothing else that works with other brands. Looked at Garmin but was put off by reviews that said it only works with Garmin applications.

I'm enjoying the iPhone App called Cogmon Bike with this sensor. It's a good companion and it keeps giving me a good motivation during the bad weather and winter off-season on the roller for me.
You can check this App by following link;
I will upload my best result later on!!

It just works...
Bought this about a month ago and it's great. Plugged into my iphone or my ipad and Bang all my apps just picked up all my sensors within seconds. So simple, with no issues so far...

DOES THE JOB
Bought the Wahoo key to be used on my iPad 3rd generation with VirtualTraining application. No problem at all, the applicaton recognizes my home trainer, cardio and cadence sensor on first connection. Nothing special to do. A true plug & play!
Not 5 stars because I feel it overpriced!

Didn't work. Returned it
Bought this for iPad and trainer road . Couldn't get it working

Wahoo needs to make a key for Lightning
Using this key with an iPhone 6 requires a 30 pin to lightning adapter and an extension if your phone is in, for example, a quadlock case so you can use it outdoors. It all works but that combination but results in a long tail of devices hanging from the Lightning port that easily jars loose when riding outdoors. It would help if the key was made for Lightning and didn't require an adapter; better would be if the key could mount without the aid of an extension; best of all would be if all the devices you use for bike workouts, including power meter, cadence meter and heart monitor connected using bluetooth so no key at all was required.

30pin connector? you've got to be kidding me...
anyone have an Floppy Disk I can use to save my fitness data on?
pretty much, same thing here.

ricevitore wahoo key for ipad
it works very good with my ipad and virtualtraining and cycleops powerbeam pro.
but it is needed to buy the apple adapter....

Seriously needs an update
You have to buy a connector too so not worth the money, the lightning plug has been out for so long they seriously need to update this, adds lots of unneeded bulk to the phone.

Wahoo tech-support 5 star
I have a second generation iPad of course it did not work called Wahoo they walked me through everything they help me tremendously with the Wahoo key set things up they even went as far as helping me with the Zwift getting hooked up they took the time to walk me through it very impressed with Wahoo tech-support on like no other..
19 February 2016
Works as described.
However there should be a lightning version of this by now. Instead I had to go spend even more money on an interface between the old Apple connector and lightning.

Wahoo Key together with the Wahooligan app is simply the best solution for connectivity ever.

My husband struggled setting it up with the Virtual Training EDU so that 2 people could both train while only paying for 1 subscription to the app. Not being tech savvy this was a test of patience but now that it is working we both absolutely love it. I've done only training rides but my hubby has done a few virtual tour rides. Highly recommend the Wahoo. We have found using IOS is MUCH easier that an Android. WE have a friend who has worked at Best Buy for years who is still having trouble getting it to work with certain apps.

Connected with my Kickr Snap, Tickr X, and all bike sensors first time. Literally plug and play!
